Appelscha is known for its beautiful nature — including the Aekingerzand (the Kale Duinen) and the Canada Lake. The Drents-Friese Wold can also be visited via the Outdoor Center, the starting point for many kilometres of cycling, hiking, and horseback riding trails, as well as several mountain bike routes.

In the centre of Appelscha, you’ll find cosy restaurants, lively markets and fairs, and fun activities for all ages. There’s also a climbing forest, a stunning observation tower and of course Duinenzathe, a charming amusement and traffic park — perfect for a fun and affordable day out.
